Summary
IrsiCaixa, located in Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, has an opening in the T cell immunology and Vaccines (TIV) group for a highly motivated Research Technician.
The main objective of a successful candidate will be to perform T cell-based assays and -omics studies to analyze virus-specific T cell responses and their regulatory capacity. In addition, NK and B cell responses will be measured to depict their relationship with T cell regulation.
The main goal of this work is to identify T cell responses associated with better control of viral infections such as HIV and their translatability to immunotherapy development.
The work will be performed in the framework of research projects funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (Spain), National Institute of Health (USA), and HORIZON Europe (EU).
Job duties
Under the direction of the TIV principal investigator and research associates the applicant will carry out T and B cell assays needed to execute different ongoing projects, mainly:
- Spectral flow cytometry
- Cell sorting
- Sample Preparation for -omics studies of T cell responses, mainly scRNA/TCRseq
- Multiplexed protein analysis (Luminex, Olink, MSD, etc)
- ELISPOT
- ELISA
- Antibody neutralization assays
- ADCC assays
The work will be performed under BSL2 and BSL3 conditions to evaluate T, NK, and B cell responses during natural infection or after vaccination.
Candidate profile and qualifications
- An appropriate candidate should hold a Higher Technician in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory title.
- The TIV is a highly internationalized group, so a successful candidate should have a good command of English.
- Previous experience working in flow cytometry will be specifically evaluated.
- Previous experience with other T cell immune monitoring methodologies (ELISpot, Luminex, Olink, ELISA, etc) and -omics technologies (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, scRNAseq, etc) will also be considered
- Candidates must be highly motivated, independent, confident to work in a dynamic team environment, and be highly interested in infectious diseases and host immunity.
- Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to perform as a team member and have good interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative environment
