The Chair of AIDS and Related Diseases, the outcome of an agreement signed in 2013 with IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute, University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) and the Fight Infections Foundation, is directed by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet. Later, in June 2019, it was renamed as the Chair of Infectious Diseases and Immunity.
Its mission is to study infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and Ebola, among others. It also aims to apply the knowledge of the immune system acquired through years of research to subjects such as aging, cancer, vaccines and other related fields.
The Chair seeks to be a collaborative space that facilitates the creation of synergies aimed at generating and disseminating scientific and technological knowledge and ensuring their transfer to the productive fabric and society.
The Chair promotes training, support for research, knowledge transfer and scientific dissemination and communication. It also seeks to generate resources aimed at raising funds to award grants to young researchers in training.
