Summary
The IrsiCaixa T-cell Immunology and Vaccines group has an opening for a Bioinformatician who will participate in the investigation of HIV and COVID-19 infections and their impact on the host immune response. The main activities will be embedded in the European EPIVINF project, which aims to identify the epigenetics, transcriptomics, and proteomics cascades triggered by these viral infections and define potential biomarkers predictive of HIV and long COVID-19 disease severity and identification of new therapeutic targets.
Job duties
Omics data analysis of epigenetic (DNA-methylomes, WG-EM-seq), transcriptomics (RNAseq and scRNAseq), TCRs repertoire, and proteomics will be the major tasks. We welcome an individual who will be able to apply state-of-the-art algorithms for the identification of epigenetic signatures, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets in peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid, including the cell type annotation. The candidate will also be involved in the discussions on experimental set up to ensure adequate data are being generated for further downstream analyses.
Candidate profile and qualifications
- Previous experience in -omics data analysis (e.g. DNA-methylation, TCR sequencing, scRNAseq, RNAseq, among others): limma, BSSeq, Seurat, scran, ...)
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python (tidyverse, arrow, pandas,...)
- Used to work with version control systems (Git & Github)
- Previous experience working on Linux and HPC (High Performance Computing) clusters and familiarity with shell scripting (e.g Bash)
- Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team, including national and international partners and their respective bioinformatics cores
