Oriol Careta Borràs
Oriol Careta Borràs graduated with a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Barcelona (UB) in 2015. Subsequently, he obtained a Master's degree in Advanced Immunology from the same university in 2016. Following a brief tenure as a research technician at Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), he pursued his doctoral studies in Cellular Biology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), completing his thesis in July 2023. Throughout his PhD, his research focused on investigating the biocompatibility of novel orthopedic biomaterials with electrical properties capable of promoting cellular regeneration. During his pre-doctoral training, he also undertook an international stay at the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, located in Prague.
Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Microbial Genomics group at IrsiCaixa, contributing to the examination of the microbiome's role in HIV infection and vaccine immunogenicity. Concurrently, he is completing a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).
