Biography

Marina Martinez-Velasco graduated in Microbiology in 2017 (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). She collaborated in 2016 as a laboratory technician at The Moyne Institute (Trinity College of Dublin, Ireland) conducting studies on Salmonella enterica. Subsequently, she completed the Master's in Biomedical Research (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2018) and associated internships in the Retrovirology and Viral Immunopathogenesis group (Hospital Clinic de Barcelona), focusing on cellular metabolism and its relationship with cardiovascular risk in people living with HIV. Since then, she has been working as a laboratory technician in the HIV group at the Universitario Mutua Terrassa Hospital, where she has been able to develop projects on cardiovascular risk and HIV and participate in cohort studies (CoRIS, START, among others). Currently, she has 3 publications on national and international cohorts. Since May 2021, she has been a candidate for a PhD in Medicine and Translational Research (University of Barcelona) under the supervision of Dr. Massanella (IrsiCaixa) and Dr. Dalmau (Universitari Mútua Terrassa Hospital), working on comorbidities associated with aging in people living with HIV and their relationship with the immune system.
