Irene González Navarro studied Biotechnology at IQS School of Engineering (Ramón Llull University; Barcelona) and an MSc in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industry from the Pompeu Fabra University. She has worked as laboratory technician at the Evolutionary and Functional Genomics Lab at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE), studying the role of Transposable Elements (TEs) in the environmental adaptation of D. melanogaster through the creation of CRISPR mutants to analyze their functional effect, particularly in response to the oxidative stress.
She is now going to start its PhD research focused in LoViReT cohort as part of the RID-HIV Collaboratory “Reversing Immune Dysfunction for HIV-1 Eradication” project.
