Condolences for the loss of Charles Boucher

From IrsiCaixa we want to express our condolences for the loss of Charles Boucher, MD, PhD, professor in Virology at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, clinical microbiologist at the Erasmus Medical Center, coordinator of the Honours Class with the medical curriculum and scientific director at Virology Education, Utrecht, Netherlands.

Boucher believed and supported the IrsiCaixa project since the very beginning. As an excellent scientist and part of IrsiCaixa International Scientific Committee, he has always been part of IrsiCaixa, both giving support and advice on raising the institution, collaborating in scientific projects and organizing international workshops.

During his career, he strongly contributed to the knowledge in the HIV/AIDS field and was a building block in the study of HIV resistance to the antiretroviral treatments. His strong commitment in giving support to all those living with HIV was an inspiration for many scientists worldwide.

Beyond his scientific work, from IrsiCaixa we also highlight his predisposition to help others and enthusiasm on research. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.
