Can Ruti Campus remains a globally significant scientific centre due to its medical and research staff

Campus Can Ruti

Professionals from IrsiCaixa and other institutions at the Can Ruti Campus among the most cited scientists in the world

The Can Ruti Campus and the healthcare and research teams from the various institutions, including IrsiCaixa, that form it continue, for another year, to stand out as a global scientific hub in terms of production and scientific advancement.

Once again, the names of around thirty renowned professionals - from the Hospital and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), the Fight Infections Foundation, IrsiCaixa, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), and the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO) - appear on a global list of scientists who have achieved the highest impact through their publications and citations.

This list is the latest update of Elsevier's Scopus database, a leading global publisher in Medicine and Health Sciences. It includes around 200,000 authors, covering 22 research fields and 174 sub-fields, based on bibliometric data.

Selection criteria include factors such as the number of publications, the quality of the journals they have published in, the number of citations received throughout their career, and other indicators that reflect the influence and prestige of their scientific contributions. The final list includes those in the top 2% or higher of their area of expertise worldwide.

Regarding the influence of their work during 2023, the list highlights key figures such as the director of IrsiCaixa and president of the Foundation for the Fight Against Infections, Bonaventura Clotet; IrsiCaixa principal investigator, Javier Martínez-Picado; and IrsiCaixa principal investigator and head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the Germans Trias Hospital, Roger Paredes. They are joined by more than 20 professionals from other centers within the Can Ruti Campus.
