Elisabet García estudió formación profesional de Técnico Especialista de Laboratorio. Al terminar sus estudios, entró a formar parte del Departamento de Bioquímica del Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
Posteriormente llegó a IrsiCaixa, donde ha trabajado con diversos grupos: Procesamiento de Muestras, Servicio de Secuenciación, el grupo de Virología Celular y, actualmente, el grupo de Virología Tisular.
