We promote initiatives to foster research and open innovation in healthcare

The Barcelona CaixaResearch Living Lab is an initiative promoted by the Barcelona City Council and the "la Caixa" Foundation, in collaboration with the IrsiCaixa Living Lab for Health and ISGlobal, to promote the Barcelona Science Plan. It is born from the experiences of the Living Lab for Health at IrsiCaixa and ISGlobal, which include a wide range of initiatives to promote research and open innovation in health. It aims to be the meeting point among different social actors and a place where the needs of citizens are gathered and responded to. The platform welcomes public participation initiatives in the co-design and implementation of research and innovation agendas.

The overall objective is to facilitate an intermediation structure in which experts in different scientific disciplines –together with actors from different areas of the system, including citizens– meet to collaborate and optimize R&D&I processes, interventions and the development of public policies. All this, with the aim of achieving a transformative change of the system to make it more open and inclusive, thus improving its social impact.
